From the Journals: DAY 40

Coach

VA623 - Helvey's Mill Shelter: 18.2 mi

After an amazing Zero Day with Marcus where we got to eat red meat and shoot shotguns, we are back on the Trail with our full pack weight. The valley was beautiful and I completely understand why they call it God's thumbprint. Glad to get back to the routine of the Trail. I think we were getting soft. However, the slack packing did provide us with a recovery period, which we will need to make up mileage in the rest of Virginia. Morale is back up and we are ready to eat up some mileage. We begin with 24 miles tomorrow.
