From the Journals: DAY 31

Coach

Damascus, VA: 0 mi

We have been discussing the Professor's feet problem and believe a lot of it has been caused by his footwear breaking down. We went by the local outfitters, who were great by the way. They were very helpful and gave us a lot of great information about footwear. I am also excited about switching out my Gravity Marmot jacket with a Patagonia R-1 sweater like the Professor's. The Gravity jacket has been great and I hate switching it out, but the temps have been going up and the jacket is really best for hiking in below freezing temps, or you really overheat. I also save 1 pound and 4 ounces by making the switch. The Professor's wife, Lindsay has also come to assist, bringing a resupply, cookies and morale boosting. Lindsay rocks and is definitely an all-star on this team.

Zero Day. Expert wife @ blisters.

The Hiker Inn: Paul and Lee are incredible people who really took Coach and I under their wing. Paul hiked the trail a year ago and his wife Lee followed and met him on the trail! So, they could really relate to Lindsay and I. Rates were nice and reasonable and they helped Coach and I wherever they could. The Hiker Inn was for sale when Paul stayed there on his thru-hike, so they bought it and this is their first season for thru-hikers. Good luck and keep it up!! Y'all are on to something.
