From the Journals: DAY 30, March 25

Coach

Watauga Lake Shelter - TN 91: 18.5mi

The day started like any other and we got about 8 miles before the Professor said his feet were becoming very painful, several miles earlier than usual. We made the decision to pull off early before reaching Damascus, VA to take a couple of Zero days to heal our bodies. We called Manager Mike and hiked to the nearest road crossing, where he picked us up and drove into Damascus for some R&R. Between the Professor's blisters and my shin splint it was the right decision. We stayed at the Hiker's Inn, which is run by an ex-thru-hiker, Paul and his wife, Lee. They are great people and I think we will really enjoy our R&R in Damascus.
